Careers

The Careers Department at Diocesan School aims to provide guidance and career education to enable students to make informed decisions about their future pathways within and outside the school and to make effective transitions to the world of work and training.

Diocesan provides a professional careers service to all girls. We have an onsite, purpose-built careers resource room providing students with access to a variety of materials and resources, both online and in print. The School also hosts guest speaker sessions with partners from industry, universities and past students in our Women2Watch series.

The department offers a range of services which include:

  • Facilitating career decision making of students through individual and group counselling
  • Providing career education programmes at different year levels that give the girls the knowledge, skills and understandings so they can self manage their careers throughout their lives
  • Supporting staff and curriculum areas by providing special opportunities and specialist speakers to provide links to real life situations
  • Co-ordinating trips and activities e.g. visits to open days at tertiary institutions
  • Organising career opportunities for students e.g. work experience, Work Choice Day
  • Assisting students in making the transition from school to tertiary training, work or other options including CV and interview skills, university preparation and applications
  • Facilitation of overseas exchanges or GAP years
