Years 11 to 13

All students in Year 11 work towards the New Zealand qualification of the National Certificate of Educational Achievement. It is compulsory to take English, Mathematics and Science, the three other subjects are required. There are clear pathways of study for students and we encourage students to consider multiple opportunities and to investigate many options for their futures.

In Year 12 students may select between continuing with the NCEA or beginning a two year Diploma Programme from the International Baccalaureate. Academic mentoring occurs for all students entering or considering the Diploma. Students are encouraged to make the right decision for their learning and future, making supported and informed decisions with teacher and parental input.

Year 13 students continue in the qualification system of their choice. In Year 13 girls are given greater independence to manage their time and learning. Year 13 has a great deal of choice involved and the Careers Services assist all students with subject selection and support. As part of the involvement in the Diploma, Diocesan also offers to all students the opportunity to be involved in a Theory of Knowledge programme linked to our Religious Education classes.
