Boarding

Innes House provides full and weekly boarding from Year 9 upwards. The House was opened in 1988 and is now home to Diocesan's thirty-five boarders. At Innes House each girl plays her part in the day to day community life of the House and is encouraged to reach her potential in the academic, sporting, cultural and spiritual life of Diocesan School. The girls enjoy a happy, friendly environment under the care of the housemistress, two assistant housemistresses and two Gap tutors.

Facilities

The original kauri villa houses the junior dormitory, common/TV/computer room, the Housemistresses' flats, a modern, well-equipped kitchen and the dining room. All girls take their meals in this dining room.

In the purpose-built double-storey East wing senior girls share twin rooms and junior girls share twin cubicles, with a bathroom for every six girls. The East Wing also has a common/TV room and the house laundry. Six Year 13 girls and the Gap tutors are accommodated in the Senior Wing, adjacent to East Wing. On the sunny northern side of the house is a private courtyard for outdoor relaxation, including barbecues in the summer months.

The girls have the use of many of the school facilities: the swimming pool, playing fields, tennis courts, sports centre, library and chapel. The Gap tutors supervise Prep for Year 9 and Year 10 students in the school library four nights a week. All girls have access to the library's computers during prep time. Student desks in the House are fully networked and internet and email access are available for the girls' computers.

Outings and shopping trips are organised regularly and generous leave is allowed, with parental approval, according to seniority.

Innes House Boarding is managed by the School and is supported by the Doris Innes House Trust Board.
