The event ran slightly differently this year due to COVID restrictions which meant we only held competitive events. The day saw Diocesan’s top swimmers competing for the podium across all of our age groups with a few new faces to add into the mix. For the first time ever our Year 7s and 8s competed at the same time as the Years 9 – 13 age groups and it was amazing to see all our top swimmers competing one after the other. In the Year 7 category Queenie Lang placed third, Sophia Ng was second and Channelle Huang won the Year 7 title. Hollie Lawson placed third in the Year 8 category with Hannah Tse placing second and Indie Williams winning the Year 8 title.
Our Years 9 – 13 age group did not disappoint with some of New Zealand’s top swimmers competing in this year’s event. In our junior age groups Celest Vo picked up third place, while Frankie Dodunski and Grace Jeromson shared the junior title for 2022. The intermediate category had Arabella Duncan and Abby Welsh in joint third place, Kara Chan in second and Alex Campion was named our Intermediate Swimming Champion. Eva Allan, deputy code captain for swimming, won the Senior Swimming Champion Cup followed by Millie Quin in second place and Anna Lepua placed third.
Our Champion of Champions for 2022 was Alex Campion.
Mary Pulling house won the House Swimming Cup for 2022.
Congratulations to all those who competed in the 2022 swimming sports event.
