Are vital and offer girls throughout the school top opportunities to engage in both performing (music, drama, dance) and visual arts, whether in the classroom via the Junior School curriculum and through the Arts Faculty, or in our many co-curricular activities. It is especially pleasing to have some curriculum teachers in the Arts offering their expertise and commitment in the co-curricular area.
Linking to the Diocesan Heritage Foundation Dio Arts looks to support the School’s position as one of the pre-eminent schools in New Zealand in the arts. With links to Old Girls who are artists, or have a commitment to the arts, we aim to create a seamless structure for offering mentoring, recognition and support for both current and past students.
The Arts at Dio
Immediate goals include:
- Establishing a formal network of support for recognising and developing the Arts at Dio on both an individual and collegial basis.
- Maintaining a broad definition of the Arts to ensure recognition and valuing of all artistic achievement and endeavour.
- Support for the establishment and development of superb physical facilities for the arts at Diocesan.
- Commissioning and acquiring new art for the school.
