In recent weeks, Year 13 student Piper Whitehead has been selected for the second year in a row for the National Debating Team. Having been selected for a second time in as many years to represent the Auckland region, Piper Whitehead spent the final weekend in May at the New Zealand Secondary Schools’ Debating Championships, held in Wellington. The Auckland team were defeated in a hard fought final, debating the motion “That this house regrets the rise of the ‘gig’ economy, such as Uber and Airbnb”. However, Piper was personally acknowledged via her selection into the New Zealand Schools’ Debating team and we are delighted to see that Piper is setting the standard. We wish her well for this year’s trip to the World School Debating Championships to be held in Bali from 1 – 11 August 2017 and look forward to following her progress.
