Dio is proud to announce that Lydia Watson is the Dux for 2017, and that Scarlett Li has been awarded Proxime Accessit to the Dux. Both girls have achieved tremendously in academics over their time at Diocesan.
Lydia is the rare student whose interests, abilities and successes span almost every curriculum area. She has been top of her year group every year since year 7, receiving awards regularly including Board Scholarships, the Junior High School Dux in 2014 and last year the Dorothy Shrewsbury Bursary for the top academic student in year 12.
Lydia is also a fine musician, winning the Clarinet cup at the Diocesan Concerto competitions this year. Lydia is headed for an outstanding future in whatever pathway she chooses. She has been awarded one of Auckland University’s Top Achiever’s Scholarships worth $20,000 where she intends to study engineering.
Scarlett has been at Diocesan for just two years, but in that time she has also made a huge impression academically. She came to Diocesan for the Diploma programme and has achieved outstandingly. Her results are near perfect and we are anticipating a very high score when the final results come out in January. In addition Scarlett is top in Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry. Scarlett is unsure where she will study at tertiary level, but has is exploring options in Hong Kong and the UK.
