Six KBB Festival Awards for Dio
The KBB Festival is now the largest youth music festival for instrumentalists in Australasia. The event runs over five days and is a huge undertaking for both students and staff and proved a success for Dio.

Diocesan has won an unprecedented 6 awards at the 2018 KBB Festival.

• Chamber Orchestra (dir. Shelagh Thomson) – Gold Award
• Chamber Orchestra (dir. Shelagh Thomson) – Most Outstanding Performance of a Romantic Work (Emily Ai -Rococo Variations)
• Symphony Orchestra (dir. Shelagh Thomson) – Gold Award
• Symphony Orchestra (dir. Shelagh Thomson) – Most Outstanding Performance of a NZ Work (Time and Tide by Gareth Farr)
• Symphony Orchestra (dir. Shelagh Thomson) – Most Outstanding Soloist Award (Sharon Hung- Elgar Cello Concerto)
• Concert Band (dir. Andrew Uren) – Bronze Award

Our girls performed under the competent leadership of Y13 student leaders Melody Chen, Sarah Casey, Sarah Lee, He-min Li, Belinda Xiong, Emily Gee and Elma Liao. Well done to all involved.
