Dio Athletes Shine at Central Zones Athletics Day
Twenty-one Dio students represented our school at the Central Zones Athletics Day, held at Mt Smart Stadium. This event provided a fantastic opportunity for our athletes to showcase their talent across a range of track and field events.

The day began bright and early with the 1500m race, where Grace Dearlove secured a first place finish in the Year 8 Girls category. Noomi Riley also ran a commendable race, finishing fifth.

Our athletes gave their all on the track, delivering standout performances:

  • 100m: Alice Jung and Scarlett Main both achieved fifth place in the Year 7 and Year 8 categories, respectively.
  • 200m: Scarlett also placed fifth, with Jess Woodhams close behind in sixth place.
  • 400m: Phoebe Kelt impressed in the Year 8 final, taking second place, while Oceanna Sun placed sixth in the Year 7 final.
  • 800m: Noomi Riley secured second place in the Year 8 race.
  • Relay: The Year 8 Girls relay team delivered a strong performance, finishing in fifth place.

In the field events, our athletes excelled:

  • Sina-Maria Su’a excelled, breaking her previous records, earning first place in both the discus and shot-put events with impressive distances.

We are incredibly proud of every student who competed, giving their all and representing Dio with determination and spirit. A special congratulations to those who have qualified for the Interzones this week – we wish you the best of luck!
