Our three key priorities in sport are participation, competition and high performance.

More than 85 per cent of students take part in our sports programme and Diocesan boasts a rich history of success across a range of sports codes. All sports information for current parents and students can be found on DioConnect at the link below.

Our Sports Department

Our participation philosophy is ‘more girls, more active, more fun, more often’. We also want our students to become passionate about their chosen sport and many take it to regional, national and international championship level.

Our Sport Department provides access to outstanding leaders and sports coaches including Angie Winstanley-Smith (Coach of the NZ Water polo team, Great Britain representative in Swimming and Water polo) and Gabby Oloapu (NZ U16 Water polo coach).

Development and support in Sport

We also provide opportunities for coaches and officials to add to their expertise. Sport at Diocesan is well supported by Dio Sport, parents and teachers, enabling our students to participate in a wide variety of sports trips, competitions and events and we foster strong links with clubs and regional organisations.

Sport in the Junior High School

Dio is recognised nationally and internationally for our sporting success. It’s a big part of who we are. We offer an impressive range of sports so there’s something to suit every student at every level. Whichever sport your daughter chooses we have the team and the resources to make sure she can get out there and achieve her personal best.

Excellent Facilities

Dio embraces modern training methods to cater to the evolving interests of active young people. Our state of the art Aquatic Centre is a valuable year-round facility that enables students to experience a wide choice of water sports. Our multi-purpose artificial sports turf provides exciting opportunities for girls, with regular competitive fixtures, training and activities held on the Diocesan campus.
