Athletics Day 2026
The 2026 Athletics Day was held on Tuesday 17 February at Mt Smart Stadium, delivering a vibrant day of competition and house spirit.

House leaders played a key role in energising and supporting students across both competitive and non-competitive track and field events.

House points were hotly contested, with fun additions such as the three-legged race and egg-and-spoon race creating plenty of laughter alongside the 11 competitive events that showcased our top athletes.

In Year 7, Anna Qin took first place, followed by Lilian Thomas in second and Nicola Greville and Savannah Hogg coming third equal.

Mackenzie Lim led the Year 8 category, ahead of Madison Kay and Olive Heatley.

The Junior division was tightly fought, with Sally Youngman winning, Stella Leach second, and Phoebe Ulmer and Olivia Harte tying for third.

Eden Bretell (Year 10) won the Intermediate title, while Sina-Maria Su’a (Year 10) broke two school records in Shot Put (15.91m) and Discus (48.3m), surpassing the 1989 mark set by Snowy Rakei.

The Senior competition highlighted outstanding talent. Hannah McManus (Year 13) capped her final year by winning and breaking the Senior 800m, Shot Put and Discus records, with Tessa Lepionka (Year 12) second and Sophie Pearce (Year 13) third.

Athletics Code Captain Emily Cowan (Year 13), returning from injury, set a new 200m record of 25.69 seconds and helped create one of the best trackside atmospheres in Dio history.

The day concluded in style with the teachers once again claiming victory in the Prefect vs Teachers relay. Congratulations to all participants for an outstanding display of energy, enthusiasm and skill.
