On 1 June we had four Junior and two Intermediate students attend the Cross Country championships at Lloyd Elsmore Park.

They had a huge downpour of rain right before the races but luckily, it cleared before the Junior girls race. But as with Central Zones Day, the copious rain made for a wet and muddy course.

Dio started with a bang in the Junior category. Maddie Worrall 9MP and Indie Williams 9MP took 1st and 2nd place in the individuals. They also claimed 1st in the team of 3 (Maddie Worrall, Indie Williams and Laura Bowden).

By the time the Intermediate girls started, the course was in a much worse state and was more like slip-and-slide than a Cross Country field. All our athletes performed very impressively, though. We’d like to give special mention to athletes Maddie Worrall, Indie Williams, Laura Bowden, Cerys Findlow, Sophie Pearce, and Amy Stafford.
