Dio athletes Hannah McManus, Amy Shennan, Jacqui Nasrabadi, Indie Williams, Sophia Haines, and Scarlett Gwin competed in the New Zealand Secondary Schools Athletics (NZSSA) Track & Field and Road Race event held in Christchurch in December last year.

The 4x400m Junior Relay team, comprised of Hannah, Jacqui, Sophia, and Scarlett (with Indie as the reserve), were victorious in their category. Their strong performance highlighted not only individual talent but also exceptional teamwork.

Jacqui showcased her speed and agility by clinching 4th place in the 100m Finals and achieving an impressive 1st place in Long Jump. Her versatility across her events demonstrated her all-around athleticism and commitment to excellence. She also secured a spot on the national team which will be competing in Australia in April this year.

Indie achieved victory in the Year 9 Road Race and demonstrated her versatility by attaining a commendable 5th place in the Junior 3km Track Event.

In the Junior 800m Finals, Sophia exhibited outstanding endurance, securing 5th place, while Hannah exemplified her competitive spirit with a 6th place finish. Their performances added depth to Dio’s representation at the event, contributing to the overall success of the team.

In the Senior 800m finals, Amy secured a commendable 4th place. Her achievement in the Senior category reflects not only her individual ability but also determination and hard work.
