At the Interzones Athletics Day at Mt Smart Stadium on 30 November, (and after securing their spots at the Central Zones event), our exceptional Dio athletes once again showcased their athleticism.
Six talented students competed in both track and field events and left their mark on the competition.
In shot put, Sina-Maria Su’a displayed incredible strength with a record-breaking throw of 13.88m, surpassing the previous record of 10.40m. The discus event witnessed another record-breaking performance by Sina-Maria Su’a with a phenomenal 47.68m throw, setting a new benchmark against the previous 39.27m record. Charlotte Waite gave it her all in shot put and Isabelle Brunton secured 7th position out of 23.
The track events were equally thrilling. Luisa Haines conquered the 400m, securing the 8th position out of 20 participants, and showcased her endurance in the 1500m, finishing 11th out of 24. Anna Yuan sprinted her way through the 100m, claiming the 13th spot out of 23 participants. Grace Larsen exhibited her speed and stamina in the 1500m, finishing 14th out of 24.
The future of Diocesan Athletics shines brightly, as these successes are a testament to the talent and dedication of our student athletes. Congratulations to the team for their outstanding performances, and here’s to a future filled with even more triumphs and successes.
