The NZSCC is Aotearoa’s national choir for outstanding teenage voices. Comprised of the country’s most talented young singers, the choir comes together during school holidays for an intensive week of rehearsals and performances. Their work culminates in an international tour to a prestigious choral festival or competition. The choir’s mission is to foster choral excellence and nurture leadership among secondary school students.
Imogen Cullen recounts the week in Wellington:
“It is a great experience for building musicianship, socialising, and learning how to adult in an unfamiliar environment.
The April course of NZSSC 25/26 was in Wellington and myself, Joia Jackson and Lotosina Tavui represented Dio with pride.
The repertoire was diverse and unique, from Kapa Haka to Dolly Parton to traditional parts of Latin masses and requiems.
Overall it was a phenomenal experience, and something I am very keen to repeat over the next 18 months.”
