Diocesan National Literacy and Numeracy – Year 11
As part of monitoring literacy and numeracy across New Zealand, the Ministry of Education has implemented national assessments for all Year 11 students.

We were delighted to receive Dio’s results and the commentary that shows we are excelling with our overall result of “Outstanding Achievement”.

The summary noted that “Diocesan School for Girls significantly outperforms national averages across all three literacy and numeracy standards, with achievement rates exceeding national benchmarks by 25–34 percentage points. This places the school among the top-performing institutions in New Zealand for literacy and numeracy outcomes with 97% or higher achievement across all assessed areas.”

The overall results for 2025 are very pleasing:

Standard Assessed Dio achievement rate National Achievement rate Difference
Numeracy 97.1%

63.0% +34.1
Literacy – writing 97.2 %

68.0% +29.2
Literacy – reading 97.0%

While we celebrate these strong results, we remain committed to supporting every student in achieving their literacy and numeracy goals.

Our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement ensures we will continue to review and enhance our programmes to maintain excellence and provide the best possible outcomes for all students.

We are incredibly proud of these results that show we are consistently able to lift our students to achieve at the highest level.
