Diocesan School Appoints Dr Sandra Hastie as new Executive Principal
The Board of Diocesan School is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Sandra Hastie, who will join Diocesan as our new Executive Principal from Term 2 this year.

Dr Hastie is a vastly experienced and outstanding educator with a proven track record in leading high performing girls’ schools, most recently as Principal of Somerville House, one of Queensland’s preeminent academic girls’ schools, and prior to this, as Principal of Rangi Ruru Girls’ School in New Zealand. Previous senior leadership roles include Principal of Saint Kentigern Girls’ School, as well as Head of Primary for both Saint Kentigern Schools.

The Diocesan Board was thrilled with the high calibre of applicants attracted to our school. We are confident that Dr Hastie brings the experience, vision and leadership qualities that will further strengthen our school community. She has an exceptional reputation and her enthusiasm for education and learning is testament to her ability to engage, inspire and lead.

What clearly stood out is Sandra’s passion for creating a learning culture that encourages students to be curious, innovative and entrepreneurial, so they are prepared to navigate the rapidly changing technological world. Her leadership is grounded in clear values, high expectations and a deep belief in education as a force for both intellectual growth and personal integrity.

A proud New Zealander, Sandra is returning home, bringing a wealth of expertise and fresh perspectives to guide Dio into the future. She is deeply committed to fostering positive outcomes for students, staff and the wider school community.

Dr Hastie said: “I am thrilled to be joining the Diocesan community and building on its strong heritage. Dio has always stood out as a school that inspires young women to dream big, lead boldly, and make a difference in the world. I believe that empowering girls through quality education is not only a catalyst for personal growth but a driving force for social change.”

“Throughout my career, I have focused on creating environments where young women are encouraged to discover their strengths, embrace their ambitions, and develop the resilience and integrity needed to shape a brighter future – and I am looking forward to bringing this focus and passion to Diocesan.”
