Football 1st XI Tournament
It was a beautiful week down in Taupo for the first NZSS Football Tournament in three years.

The girls kicked off Day 1 with a 6-0 win over Fielding, a close loss to Baradene and a 2-0 win over New Plymouth Girls. This placed the team into the Top 16 as second in the pool, putting them up against Saint Kentigern College.

Unfortunately, the girls fell short against the second-ranked Auckland team, meaning they would move into the 9-16 placed bracket for the remainder of the tournament.

Wednesday saw the tournament move into 40-minute half games and although the team was running on tired legs, they managed to pull off a 2-0 win over Glendowie.

The girls carried this momentum into Thursday’s game against St Peters which they won in the final kick of a penalty shoot-out, putting them in the 9th and 10th playoff against Westlake on Friday. In a similar fashion to the rest of the week, this was another tight game, but the team came out on top with a 1-0 win, placing them 9th overall in the tournament – the best they have done in over 10 years!

Football 1st XI Team: Bella Cranefield, Lily Double, Eliza East, Olivia Erskine, Lara Flood, Sophia Haines, Ella Hanton, Mia Hanton, Georgia Headland, Gemma Kelly, Indigo Kirk, Sienna Kirk, Rita Price, Sydney Sparks, Anya Stephan, Maddison Tongue, Lola Wood (Captain)
