This instrumental festival offers the very highest levels of music-making for secondary school orchestras, bands and chamber orchestras, and this year, 156 schools competed at Holy Trinity across six days, with over 5000 students participating. It was a fest of the best!!
We were particularly thrilled with our newly formed Dio Concert Band, under the direction of Assistant Performing Arts Director, Ms Jasmine Sun, who has rebuilt our own Dio brand again, and this year, the girls scored their highest silver award ever.
ConcorDio Intermediate Strings achieved their highest mark ever in the Bronze category, and our three large ensembles were all awarded high Silvers (one mark off Gold) so a great week for our instrumentalists.
With 150 Dio students across our ensembles, they did the school proud, playing their hearts out and wowing the audiences.
A particular highlight was our Head Prefect, Lotosina Tavui, performing a soulful rendition of the all-time jazz classic ‘At Last’. You can view the performance here.
