Over the weekend 12 amazing Dio instrumentalists across eight different groups participated in the chamber music competition at the Raye Freedman Arts Centre.
This national competition draws students from across the regions in the District Heats, followed by the National Finals in August.
There were 100 groups in the Auckland heats alone, so the competition was fierce.
The musicians involved were: Emily Wang, Mia Zhou, Yolanda Zhang, Chloe Xiao, Vevina Wang, Erin Boa, Angel Tao, Eve Lu, Zi Xuan Wang, Verity Jin, Wendy Chen, and Claire Nicholls.
Every group played in a variety of combinations within their categories; including wind trios, string quartets, quintets and string trios.
Our girls performed magnificently and we were thrilled that so many Dio instrumentalists took home some great awards, with the Nino Rota Trio awarded 1stplace at the Auckland Finals.

- Junior Award – VEZA Quartet (Eve Lu, Zi Xuan Wang, Angel Tao, Verity Jin)
- Adjudicators Award – LCI Trio (Claire Nicholls)
- Auckland Finalists – VEZA Quartet (Eve Lu, Zi Xuan Wang, Angel Tao, Verity Jin) and Nina Rota Trio (Angel Tao, Ella Zhang, Iris Guo)
- Auckland Overall Winner – Nino Rota Trio (Angel Tao, Ella Zhang, Iris Guo)
