At Diocesan, we often talk about being one team — and that includes not just our students and coaches, but also our parents and wider community. In the coming months, we will be leading a series of messages and initiatives under the theme “Our Team. Our Standards. One Dio.” This work highlights the shared role we all play in shaping a positive and empowering sporting culture for our girls.
This initiative closely aligns with the values of Ko Tātou — our commitment to identity, connection, and collective responsibility. Sport is one of the most visible and powerful places where these values come to life.
As part of this work, we are launching W.E. C.A.R.E. — a school-wide framework that captures the behaviours and standards we believe in across all school sport. It stands for:
Each group — students, coaches, parents, and staff — shares the same W.E. C.A.R.E. message, shaped to reflect their role in sport. It’s one standard, expressed in different ways depending on the space, so that we are all aligned in how we show up for one another.
In the 2024 student sport survey we were reminded of something simple but powerful: our students take great pride in representing Dio. Our school values — honesty, integrity, respectfulness, and empathy — come to life when we model calm encouragement, uphold fairness, treat officials and opposition with dignity, and support one another with care and understanding.
We are committed to leading by example — in how we coach, communicate, and support our teams. We are always open to constructive feedback and continue to model a growth mindset in all we do. We also recognise that parents play a vital part in this journey — the way we show up, speak, and support on the sidelines leaves a lasting impression on our students.
Over the coming months, we will be sharing tools and ideas on how we can all grow and develop within the W.E. C.A.R.E. framework. More than just a set of words, it’s about how we bring our shared standards to life — in the way we support and celebrate our people, our teams, and our school.
We are proud of how our Dio community continues to support school sport. Let us continue to be the team that shows others how it is done — with unity, respect, and sideline support that makes our students proud to wear the crest.
