One aspect of this communication is by written reports to parents. These occur three times a year:
Towards the end of Term 1 we will issue an Interim Progress Report for all students in Years 7-13, and there will be an opportunity to meet some of your daughter’s teachers. The comments will focus on how well your daughter has settled into her new class, completion of work, and participation in class rather than progress towards academic standards. The report is compiled by drawing from a range of comments rather than being entirely personalised for your daughter. Her academic progress will be reported on in full at mid year, when we will again have an opportunity for parent meetings, and at the end of the year.
This year we will not be indicating on the report that an “interview is advised”. Everyone is welcome to attend and if teachers have particular concerns you can expect them to have been in contact with you. Students are encouraged to attend the meetings with parents.
Unlike primary and intermediate schools there may be a number of teachers you want to meet with, but it can be challenging to meet with all teachers in the time slots available. However, we will extend the time for interviews from 1.45-6pm.
Some teachers have only two periods per cycle with your daughter so will only have seen your daughter a few times in Term 1. Therefore, Year 7-10 Mātauranga Māori, Year 7-10 Religious Studies, and Year 7 Languages will not be available for interviews in Term 1.
Staff are always available to answer questions about your daughter’s progress so do be in touch if you have concerns or questions.
