Following the final training camp of the Dio Rowing season, filled with lots of fun and hard work, the squad headed down to Lake Karapiro to race at the North Island Club Champs regatta. It was clear the extremely hard work of the girls at camp paid off, as they came away with wonderful results.

The first two days of racing brought with it heavy streams of wind and rain, but despite the challenging conditions the girls still managed to give each race their all. Collectively, the squad made 14 B Finals and 13 A Finals, with nearly every rower making a final. From those A Finals, five crews managed to make it to the podium.

In the Women’s Club Double, Imogen Worrall and Emma Young earned a bronze.

The Women’s Novice 8 with Ada Findlow, Maddie Worrall, Emily Keene, Sophie Priscott, Lucinda Day, Odessa Key, Olivia Bethell and Emily Dick, coxed by Rose Finlayson, along with the Women’s Intermediate Quad with Genevieve Fail, Ellie Buckland, Lily James and Sophie Pearce, coxed by Stella Benton, did extremely well and earned silver.

Both the Women’s Club Quad consisting of Emma Young, Georgia Galloway, Imogen Worrall and Susie Finalyson, coxed by Yasmin Phillips, and the Women’s Novice Quad with Odessa Key, Margot Wilson, Addison Hewlett and Sofia Glass, coxed by Stella Benton, each came out as North Island Champions earning gold in their respective categories.

These amazing results left the squad feeling positive and they will continue to train hard with high hopes of continuing their success at the upcoming regattas.
