This information will vary across year levels because of the varying frameworks that support our comprehensive curriculum and qualifications. We hope that this information will help you to understand the purpose of each report so that you can see key components of their education:
Overall Achievement – overall achievement scores will compare your daughter’s achievement against standards that are moderated across New Zealand.
Progress – progress is judged by each teacher and is covered by report comments. It is the pace and improvement in learning that your daughter is achieving.
Service, Activities and Contribution – mid-year and end-of-year reports will list the activities and contribution that each student participates in during the year.
Attendance – we do not report attendance information unless attendance drops below acceptable levels. This is addressed outside of the reporting cycle. We have attendance support staff who assist deans and tutor teachers to identify and resolve attendance issues.
We hope the summary will below will give you an overview for this year about what will be reported:
From Years 11-13
In Year 11 students will be assessed against Diocesan Standards that will prepare them for their choice of qualification in Years 12 and 13 – the International Baccalaureate Qualification or the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA). Throughout the year, students will receive three reports.
For All Year 11 students
This early report means we will be commenting on how well the student has settled into the year and her level of engagement. There are no formal standardised assessments done at this age level for the interim report.
This report will comment on overall achievement in assessments that have been completed to date. The scale of achievement is reflected using the NAME criteria:
The Dean, Tutor and subject teachers will comment on each student’s progress and will note involvement in school activities.
The end of year report will provide overall achievement against every aspect of learning taught for the year using the NAME criteria. Each subject teacher will comment on progress and the Dean and tutor will provide an overview of the student’s contribution and engagement at school.
