Our junior girls had a great start to the tournament, with two wins and a draw on their first day, finishing the round-robin draw in third place, only one point behind first and second. The 3rd v 4th playoff against Wellington Girls’ College was a hard-fought battle, just missing out on the bronze medal with a full-time score of 3-2.
Holly Webster and Hannah McManus won joint golden boot in the junior competition, each scoring 11 goals throughout the tournament!
Our senior girls came out fighting from the very beginning. Dio was the only team in the tournament undefeated in the pool play, with only eight goals scored against them all tournament. They beat Auckland rivals Mt Albert Grammar School in the semi-final, moving into the final against Wellington East Girls’ College. They played a skilful and composed game, battling until the very end, when MAGS scored the decider in the final minute. We are so proud of our senior girls for finishing the tournament with a silver medal!
