The green screen room was transformed into a virtual reality suite, where students explored immersive media, 3D drawing, and VR simulations. We’re excited to see some of these students carry their enthusiasm into the digital technologies programme in future years.
Junior students used TinkerCAD to design and 3D-print custom jewellery or pendants — many for the first time — and enjoyed creating bespoke badges in the FabLab using their own printed graphics.
In Materials Design Technology, students crafted personalised lip balms and bath bombs, experimenting with different oils and scents to create their own take-home products.
Media literacy sessions ran throughout the week, developing essential skills through four key themes:
Access – safely and ethically navigating media;
Analyse – identifying purpose, authorship, and credibility;
Evaluate – interpreting and making judgments;
Create – expressing ideas through modern communication tools.
This was Dio’s first time combining Tech and Media Literacy Week — with 2025 only the second year Media Literacy Week has run nationally. The event was incredibly well received and laid a strong foundation for future growth. We look forward to building on this momentum in 2026, especially with the exciting new opportunities the Shrewsbury development will bring.
