The Senior A team (Dio were the only school to have two teams competing at this level) won the plate for the tournament and managed to hold other schools Premier teams to low scores and even winning against a few of them. Congratulations to all of the athletes, coaches and managers on a successful tournament.
Christine Lewis, premier team manager, also won a special award, the Caltex Good Sport award at prizegiving. Christine was nominated by the premier girls as they wanted to ensure that Christine is recognised for her years of service (at least 15 but there was time before that too) to Diocesan Water Polo. Christine is an outstanding team manager that cares about our students and our programme. Thank you for representing our School and congratulations to the girls. It was also great to see the huge parent support and our thanks for your commitment to sport at Dio.
The Senior B Water Polo team also won a silver medal in the Division 2 Water Polo Nationals held in Auckland. They lost the final to Carmel College’s Premier team after a penalty shoot out semi final against St Mary’s. Another fantastic achievement for Water Polo at Dio.
