Students experiment with music by exploring different genres and trying out instruments for the very first time. From Foundation to Year 2, students discover the basics of pitch, rhythm, beat, dynamics, tempo and percussion. In Year 3 and 4 all girls learn the violin followed by woodwind instruments in Year 5. In Year 6, girls experiment with composition and performing in a range of musical groups. We foster a love of music in our girls and many go on to become talented singers and musicians.

Performing Arts
Performing Arts incorporating music, dance and drama begins at an early age at Dio, with opportunities for our girls to be on stage at assemblies, concerts and productions. These experiences build performance skills, but also help to develop risk taking, confidence and self-belief, no matter the skill level of each student.

Performing Arts in Junior School

Choir
From Year 3, girls can audition for our Chapel Choir, Bella Voce and Allegro Voce choirs. Music and singing are an important part of school traditions and celebrations and all Junior School girls play a part in our Musical Showcase and Christmas Carol Service each year.

End of Year Production
Students in Year 5, practice and perform a spectacular concert for their friends and family.
Previous concerts have included:
Peter Pan,
Alice in Wonderland and
Wicked Fairies.
