Ann Kyle (7RO), participated in the Amici Trust Junior Theatre NZ Pilot Programme, Finding Nemo Kids (Disney Pixar), being run in association with iTheatrics (NY) and Music Theatre International – Australasia.
Students aged from 11-18 were put forward from theatre groups throughout New Zealand and auditioned for roles on the first day, learned the scrip/choreography/songs in three days and performed in Q-Theatre on day five.
Ann was selected for the lead role of Nemo and worked with JTNZ along with musicians and a director from New York’s Broadway (online during the three days since they couldn’t travel to New Zealand due to our closed border).
Participants in the JTNZ Pilot Programme have been given the opportunity to travel to the USA in January 2022 as a group of 40 attending workshops run by Broadway professionals in New York, participating at the International Theatre Festival in Atlanta and finally a workshop with Disney Performing Arts in California. The 2021 trip was unsurprisingly cancelled.
