College Sport Auckland Athletics Championships
On Tuesday 17 and Thursday 19 March, a group of Dio students attended the College Sport Auckland Athletics Championships at Mt Smart Stadium.

Across two days of competition, athletes from schools across Auckland showcased their talent in a wide range of track and field events.

Dio was proudly represented by 28 athletes, who delivered an impressive performance, securing multiple medals and even breaking long-standing records. It was particularly pleasing to see a mix of experienced competitors and students attending their first College Sport Athletics Championships.

Congratulations to all athletes who represented Dio, and special recognition to those who achieved podium finishes:

  • Eden Brettel (Year 10) – 3rd, Intermediate Girls Javelin; 3rd, Open Girls Pole Vault
  • Abi Bethel (Year 10) – 2nd, Intermediate Girls 3000m
  • Sina-Maria Su’a (Year 10) – 1st, Intermediate Girls Shot Put (record: 15.61m); 1st, Intermediate Girls Discus (record: 47.08m)
  • Koko Wong (Year 13) – 3rd, Senior Girls Javelin
  • Sophia Haines (Year 13) – 2nd, Senior Girls 800m; 3rd, Senior Girls 1500m
  • Emily Cowan (Year 13) – 1st, Senior Girls 200m; 1st, Senior Girls 400m; 2nd, Senior Girls 100m

We are also proud to acknowledge that Sina-Maria Su’a, Abi Bethel, Eden Brettel, Isabella Brunton, Emily Cowan, Sophia Haines, and Hannah McManus have qualified for the North Island Secondary School Championships at Massey Park this weekend, where they will represent Auckland against other regional teams.
