Dio Athlete Named NZ Orienteering Reserve
Charlotte Dalziel (Year 12) continues to make her mark in the world of orienteering, earning selection as the non-travelling reserve for the New Zealand Women’s U18 team at the European Youth Orienteering Championships (EYOC).

The EYOC is an invitational event, with New Zealand selecting teams of four women and four men across both U18 and U16 categories. Charlotte’s inclusion, despite her age, highlights her rapid progression and growing reputation in the sport.

Earlier this year, Charlotte competed internationally as part of the U16 team alongside Cerys Findlow (Year 12), gaining valuable experience on the global stage. Now, having only recently turned 16, she has been named reserve for the older U18 category – an impressive achievement given she is competing against athletes up to two years her senior.

Being selected ahead of 17- and 18-year-olds is a strong endorsement of her talent, work ethic, and potential. It also signals that she is firmly on the radar for future international representation.

With this momentum, all eyes will be on Charlotte as she continues her development, with hopes high that she will secure a spot in the travelling team in the years ahead.
