Rowers Liv Bethell and Lizzie Hawksbee were selected into the Auckland Rowing Association U18 Light Blues team, which competed at the Queensland Schools Championships at the end of Term 3 in Rockhampton.
They were selected to trial in April after Lizzie’s U16 season and Liv’s U17 season, and trained as a squad up until the August trials, with both making the travelling team.
Liv and Lizzie share their experience;
“We raced mixed eights, where we got 1st and 3rd, a women’s eight which placed 4th and two fours which got 1st and 3rd. We got to race at the 2032 Olympic course, in 31 degree weather.
Overall this was an incredible opportunity to row with rowers from other schools, meet new people and experience rowing in a completely different environment.
Beyond racing, the trip was so much fun, we all became very close and made so many memories.”
