Students have been placed into mixed-age teams, encouraging them to work together to plan, prepare and present both a main course and a dessert. Along the way, they’re developing valuable life skills, learning new cooking techniques and building friendships across year levels.
The first team impressed the judges with a delicious homemade lasagne and chocolate pudding, mastering skills such as preparing a classic white sauce from scratch. Team Two followed with individual bacon and egg pies, served alongside ice cream sundaes for dessert. The Director of Boarding was delighted to discover that each pie had been personalised with the recipient’s name—a thoughtful touch that certainly earned extra smiles!
As well as producing some fantastic meals, the challenge has been filled with teamwork, creativity and plenty of laughter. Students are gaining confidence in the kitchen while learning practical skills that will serve them well long after they leave school.
A special thank you goes to our catering partner, Ovation, and Head Chefs Katrina and Frank for their generous support, guidance and encouragement throughout the challenge. Their expertise has helped make this a fun, engaging and memorable experience for our boarders.
We can’t wait to see what the next teams create!
