Our first crossover game on Day 2 was a tough challenge against Botany, a team we had faced twice earlier in the season with both matches ending in losses. However, our players put on an outstanding team performance and claimed a hard-fought victory by a single goal.
Day 3 presented another tough test with two challenging games against strong opponents. The morning started with a match against Lynfield, which unfortunately resulted in a loss. The team had to quickly regroup for an afternoon game against Mt Maunganui, but despite their efforts, they experienced another loss, placing us in the 9-16 pool.
The following day saw another double-header, beginning with a match against Tuakau where we came away with a well-deserved win. In the afternoon, we faced Massey in a fiercely contested game that saw the team fight until the end, but narrowly lost by 2 goals.
This set up a semi-final match against Whakatane, a strong team that had shown great results throughout the tournament. Despite a determined effort, we were unable to secure a win, placing us in a final match against Otamatea High School — a team we had previously faced in the initial pool round.
Again, taking a well-deserved team win, we finished the tournament in 11th place.
Although there was a sense of disappointment from the team in not finishing higher, they shared a fantastic week together. It was great to see the players demonstrate resilience, skill, and teamwork throughout a challenging week of competition.
