Night of Dance 2025
Last Wednesday and Thursday evenings we were treated to two brilliant nights of dance.

It has become such a fabulous tradition at Dio to showcase our curricula and co-curricula dance programmes.  With many countries and cultures around the world represented, the evening was launched by the Dio Kapa Haka group who set the scene with beauty and strength –  a theme that continued throughout the evening.

Each night the full house audiences enjoyed a spectacular evening of dance.  This year’s theme for the show represented  Te Kanikani Whetū – the Star Dance – to mark the celebration of Matariki. This year’s showcase reflecting themes of remembrance, renewal, reflection and unity, all brought to life through dance, rhythm, and storytelling.

With over 400 students involved, these evenings are the biggest performance event on the Diocesan calendar, and we are all so proud of them. Thank you to our strong, fabulous and creative young dancers who were simply brilliant.

Performances involved about 100 students and staff who were part of the preparation and backstage work.  Without them, the show would not have happened.

Thank you to:

Producers and Diocesan Dance Teachers: Simone Kallil, Zoe Visvanathan, Tehana Piggott
Lighting Designer/Operator: Alek Ristic

We are delighted to have so many vibrant supporters, teachers and students who enjoyed the grace, vibrance and beauty of dance.

On the second night, we also were required to evacuate the theatre for a short while in response to a fire alarm.  Our thanks to all the girls, audience members and staff who were so cooperative and calm as we accomplished a successful re-set of our systems.
