Due to heavy rain and strong winds, the cycle leg was deemed unsafe, and the event was modified to an aquathon, but the girls rose to the occasion and delivered outstanding performances.
A special highlight was Indie Williams (Year 12) being selected by event organisers to deliver the Athlete Oath at the Opening Ceremony on Wednesday. As this was the first time an Opening Ceremony has been held, it was a significant honour and a wonderful opportunity for Indie.
Indie also delivered an exceptional performance, taking 1st place in the Under 19 Female event.
Congratulations to Maggie Croft (Year 11), who secured 2nd place in the Under 16 Female category, and to Chloe Ulmer (Year 11) and Lucy Bell (Year 11), who both competed strongly in the Under 16 category despite the tough conditions.
With just four athletes competing, achieving two podium finishes is an outstanding result. Based on their performances, the team was also awarded the overall girls’ school title – a fantastic achievement!
Unfortunately, due to the severe weather, the regional team relay scheduled for Friday 27 March was cancelled.
