Women in Business 2024

We were delighted to host the Women in Business on Tuesday 26 March and welcomed three outstanding Diocesan alumnae to share their journeys with our students. Two of our senior students Kanishka Kapadia and Jade Miller introduced our three speakers – they were:

Anna Southwell: Anna has over 15 years’ experience working in digital platforms and marketing.  After spending eight years at Denizen magazine mastering design and creative direction, Anna founded Mark by South – a design-led marketing studio.  Over the last four years the agency has grown significantly serving a wide range of clients.

Nerolie Curran: Nerolie has lived and worked across the globe.  Her corporate career blended her passion for both sport and business by working in senior leadership roles with some of the world’s biggest brands, including Nike and Red Bull.  She is a founding partner of Propel Performance Group and a Coach for All Blacks Performance Labs.  She is now immersed in the world of executive coaching and leadership training.

Katie Williams: Katie is an award-winning Organisational Psychologist with 20 plus years’ experience working to create organisations where people can grow, thrive and do their best work.  Her early career was working internationally as a Management Consultant across Australasia, the US and Europe to transform large-scale businesses.  On returning to New Zealand, Katie has headed up the People (HR) function within companies including Vodafone, Wētā FX and now Sky TV.

It wasn’t long ago that these women were students at Dio and they each shared their excellent wisdom.  They all talked about hard work and perseverance to weather the storms that have come their way when journeying through different roles.  They also spoke about having values that resonate deeply and importantly having a mindset that is positive and optimistic.  What you tell your brain, is what will happen, so you make your story for yourself.  Our girls were encouraged to set a track record of success, and to find wise women and learn from them.

It was a brilliant evening and we thanked Anna, Nerolie and Katie for giving back to their school with their wonderful strategies and guidance. Special thanks to David Holmes (Teacher of Business), and year 13 students Jade Miller and Kanishka Kapadia for their superb host duties.
