The girls had earned their place at Interzones thanks to outstanding performances at Central Zones, with strong individual placings and both year groups securing first in the team categories.
The sun was shining, making for much drier and more pleasant running conditions compared to the muddy course faced the week before. Despite the sunshine, the course itself posed a serious challenge. Steep hills, sharp downhill sections, and uneven terrain tested all our girls.
Our girls rose to the occasion, competing against top runners from schools across the region. In the Year 7 race, Flossie Kirkpatrick had an impressive finish near the front of the pack in 7th place, supported by strong performances from Georgia Currey (19th), Orla Loveridge (25th), Mackenzie Lim (27th), Lily Vonn Southcombe (37th), Olivia Lowe (40th), and Ella Ng-Wong (75th). These solid individual results helped the Year 7 team secure first place overall.
In the Year 8 race, we saw a fantastic effort with three of our athletes finishing in the top 10. Congratulations to Olivia Sanders (6th), Phoebe Ulmer (7th), and Stella Leach (8th). Additional strong finishes from Georgia Anderson (24th), Willow Bracewell (25th), Zenobia Menzies (41st), and Katie Zhang (42nd) contributed to the team’s impressive second place finish.
Most impressively, Dio took home first place in the Year 7 team category and second place in Year 8, which is a huge achievement and a reflection of the strength and depth across both year levels.
It was a fantastic day of competition, with perfect weather, great support from families, and excellent results all around. A big congratulations to all the girls who competed – your hard work and determination truly paid off. Well done, Dio!
