Over the recent school holidays, Dio rowers Lizzie Hawksbee and Amelia Self were invited to Rowing New Zealand U18 and U19 team trials respectively, following their outstanding performances this past season.
Lizzie was selected for the North Island U18 Rowing Team for the annual North vs South regatta, competing in both the Four and the Eight.
As the only Year 11 in her crew, alongside Year 12 and 13 students, this was a significant achievement. She went on to stroke her Eight to two impressive wins over the South Island.
Amelia was selected for the U19 Development Team as its sole coxswain and will compete in Michigan at the Continental Challenge Cup in July. We wish her all the best for her training and racing.
