Our Senior B team travelled to Wellington for the Division 2 tournament, where they played some excellent water polo against strong opposition to finish 5th overall.
Congratulations to this outstanding group of girls on their achievement. Thank you to coaches Shinae Carrington (PY 2018) and Facundo Policarpo, as well as team manager Bex Heatley, who ensured the team was well supported and had a fantastic experience.
Our Senior A and Premier teams competed later in the week in Auckland in the Division 1 competition. Senior A faced a challenging pool, coming up against two top-four teams, but showed great determination and skill throughout the tournament to place 8th overall.
Our Premier team delivered an exceptional performance to win the Division 1 national title. Both their semi-final against St Cuthbert’s College and the final against Rangitoto College were decided by penalty shootouts. The team showed outstanding resilience and grit throughout the tournament, consistently holding off strong opposition and performing under pressure.
A special mention goes to Jemma McKinley, who was awarded Most Valuable Player of the tournament. Jemma made a number of exceptional saves throughout the week, including a crucial block in the penalty shootout against St Cuthbert’s and two more in the final against Rangitoto. Congratulations to Belle Imlah and Grainne Aitken who were also named in the Division 1 Tournament team.
Thank you to the parents who supported our teams throughout the tournament, particularly with meal preparation and delivery. We also acknowledge Christine Lewis and Nicole Lewis for their management of the teams this season, alongside coaches Hannah Ngare (2017), Angie Winstanley-Smith, and Gabby Oloapu. A special mention also to our strength and conditioning coach Milly Farquhar and goalkeeper specialist coach Sophie Gardiner (2022).
