Across 10 days, students developed their skills through professional Broadway-led workshops in dance and drama, attended acclaimed Broadway productions including Hamilton, Hadestown, The Great Gatsby and Little Shop of Horrors, and immersed themselves in the city’s vibrant arts and culture.
Beyond refining their performance techniques, the tour strengthened friendships, broadened students’ understanding of the performing arts, and inspired them through shared experiences both on and off the stage.
Read the report below, written by students Bea Taniguchi, Claire Tong, Grace Pereira, and Shayla Young, as they reflect on their unforgettable experience in New York.
Dance
This trip was such a special opportunity to not only develop our dance skills but to become closer as a collective and experience everything together.

Not only did we participate in various dance workshops across the 10 days, but we also got to watch many Broadway shows and undergo drama workshops. The Broadway shows we watched were Hadestown, Little Shop of Horrors, Hamilton and The Great Gatsby. These helped to develop our knowledge and understanding of the performing arts in different environments which was a very eye opening and inspiring experience.

We are so incredibly grateful for the memories this trip has given us, we will never forget what an amazing opportunity this trip was.
During our time in New York, we were extremely lucky to experience what dance is like in a completely different environment. We took classes in Hip Hop, Contemporary, and Musical Theatre/Jazz learning from professional teachers and choreographers.

These classes challenged us all in different ways and pushed us to try new styles, improve our technique and become more confident dancers. It was an amazing opportunity to learn from people working in the industry and see all the opportunities that dancers have in New York.

Drama
New York with the drama and dance girls was such a fun balance of hands-on education outside the classroom through professional workshops alongside an immersion of the culture– the city, the art, and the food. It was an opportunity to not just develop our own skills as drama students but also try our hand at dance workshops as well. The trip gave us a more holistic insight into the arts.

We were lucky enough to attend three drama workshops, including one that was Wicked themed, one that focused on script analysis, and a Meisner technique class. These consisted of both technical and foundational learning from professionals in their fields– Broadway actors, teachers, and directors. Both the drama and dance girls enjoyed a mixture of fun and challenge, particularly focusing on techniques and script-work. These workshops nurtured our skills and helped us better develop our styles as actors.

Travelling to New York and being able to experience an environment where the arts were so prevalent was incredibly inspiring. Specifically in Times Square, scattered all over the billboards were advertisements praising and uplifting the arts, whether it was promoting Broadway shows, upcoming plays, or concerts. It was also the moments outside of workshops – seeing Broadway shows, at restaurants, at Times Square – with friends that made this trip memorable. More than anything, the opportunity to experience all of this alongside classmates who shared similar passions made it a one in a lifetime event that we’ll always cherish.
