Celebrating Dio’s 122nd Birthday
The Year 13 students perform the Birthday Concert each year for the rest of the School, continuing a tradition that dates back to the earliest days of Dio, when the Sixth Form staged a traditional play.

While the School’s birthday is celebrated on 14 June, the concert is now held as close as possible to 27 May, marking the first day of lessons in 1904.

Over the years, a familiar mix of skits and, more recently, highly polished filmed segments, has affectionately poked fun at staff, year groups, Dio mums, and neighbouring schools, always in good humour.

This year, the Birthday Concert Council, led by Anya Taylor, Molly Hutton, and Mackenzie Roxburgh, created a script centred on the 122nd Diocesan Hunger Games, with subjects cast as rival districts competing for supremacy. The concept provided ample opportunity for wit, creativity, and clever dialogue.

Special thanks are due to the Media Team, Bea Taniguchi, Sophia Baranyai, and Lucy Hoey, as well as Annabel Smith, choreographer of the year-level dance, and concert MCs Francesca Eglinton and Harriet Wells.

In the end, there was no victor in the Games, only an agreement to work together as one team, in true Dio fashion.
