For Year 7 students Libby Yuan and Sloane Zhao, representing Dio in Division One Tennis at the AIMS Games was a particularly special experience, with both competing at a national tournament for the first time.
Playing against some of the strongest school players in the country provided an opportunity to test themselves at a higher level, and both students grew in confidence as the tournament progressed.
They competed in singles and doubles, with Libby finishing 19th and Sloane 26th in the singles competition. Together, they produced an excellent doubles campaign to finish ninth.
The highlight of the tournament, however, was being presented with the Sportsmanship Award. This was fantastic recognition of the way Libby and Sloane conducted themselves throughout the event, demonstrating respect towards their opponents, encouraging one another and displaying outstanding sportsmanship both on and off the court.
