Dio Excels at Lacrosse Girls Championships
Dio Lacrosse has enjoyed an outstanding season, with both our Premier and Development teams achieving fantastic results in their respective competitions.

On Wednesday 13 August, both the Premier and Development teams headed to Avondale Racecourse for the College Sport Auckland 1-day Lacrosse Tournament.

Both teams competed in round-robin matches to determine which finals they would progress to.

In Division 1, the Premier team secured wins against Westlake Girls High School and Mount Albert Grammar School, with a narrow 6–4 loss to Epsom Girls Grammar School. These results saw Dio progress to the first-versus-second final, where they faced Epsom once again. A tightly contested match saw Epsom take the win, with our Dio Premier team earning a well-deserved Silver medal.

In the Division 2 competition, sickness and injury meant our Development team played every game one player short, fielding just nine players against teams of 10. Despite this, they showed tremendous character and teamwork to make their way into the third-versus-fourth playoff against Selwyn College. The team delivered a dominant performance to secure the Bronze medal.

Congratulations to both teams on a very successful season, and good luck to those who will be representing Auckland Lacrosse in the coming months.

A big thank you to our coaches, Kate Burkin, Mikayla O’Brien, Ellie McDonald, and Reuben Timoti for their support and dedication to Dio Lacrosse throughout the season.

We would also like to recognise our Premier and Development Lacrosse teams, who both enjoyed outstanding seasons this year. The Premier team claimed silver in Division 1, while the Development team secured silver in Division 2.

Congratulations to both teams on a fantastic season and an impressive set of results!
