St Cecilia Singers Awarded Silver at Big Sing Finale
Dio’s St Cecilia Singers have returned from the Big Sing Finale in Christchurch with a Silver Award, following four days of performances alongside some of New Zealand’s leading secondary school choirs.

The national Finale brought together the country’s top 24 choirs and nearly 1500 choristers from across Aotearoa. The event culminated in Saturday’s Gala concert, hosted by Miriama Kamo, with performances watched by audiences in Christchurch and via the international livestream.

Congratulations to our fabulous young choristers on their beautiful singing, supporting one another, standing on that stage and performing at such an exceptionally high level in front of an audience of thousands. The Silver Award marks a significant achievement for a relatively young St Cecilia Singers cohort.

A very special thank you to our Director of Choirs, Jono Palmer, Vocal Consultant, Andrea Creighton, and our fabulous accompanist, Juan Kim, who have all done an outstanding job in preparing and nurturing these young choristers. Together the team have brought this very young, fledgling choir to an extraordinary standard.

Our wonderful Year 13 choristers deserve acknowledgement, especially leaders, Annabel Smith and Emilia Young. They have embraced their responsibility as mentors and guardians of our younger singers and have led with care, maturity and generosity.
