Dio held the Senior Concerto and Aria competitions in the Performing Arts Centre. This is always a special event in the school calendar, celebrating Dio’s instrumental and vocal soloists who take to the stage and demonstrate their skills.
The Aria competition was judged by former Diocesan Head Prefect Emma Sloman, who gave excellent feedback to the girls. The results were:
1st Place – Lotosina Tavui and the Most Promising Vocalist Award
2nd Place – Charlotte Snooks
3rd Place – Joia Jackson
The instrumentalists showed an array of talent and diversity of instruments. For the first time in years, Dio had a percussion performance by Sophie Edmonds fittingly called ‘Fireworks’. Former Director of Performing Arts at Diocesan, David Gordon judged the Concerto finalists. Awards went to:
Brass Cup – Hannah Wellington on trombone
Wind Cup – Casey Lam on oboe
Cello Cup – Madeleine Christiansen
Piano Cup – Jenny Seo
Over-all winner & Violin Cup – Eleanor Christiansen
Congratulations to all our singing and instrumental soloists for a fantastic evening.
